Hi Winter, thanks for the visit, but its time to go.It was a long, cold week. I'm totally *not* loving Montreal winter. The air is drier and super cold. It's like a knife some days! Not much really went on this week. I went out with Shane and Melissa on Thursday and we found Shane a couch. It's really nice, and reasonably priced. I also found a sectional I want, but that's going to have to wait I think. Sigh. Friday night was beer o'clock followed by some karaoke at Club Date. It's normally packed, but this week it was packed full of Francophones. This wouldn't be an issue if they hadn't insisted on singing horrible, horrible French songs. I mean *bad*. We were there 2 hours and I only got to sing twice, and the KJ decided to 'help' me at the end of my second one. What an ass. Seriously, that's a big karaoke no-no. Yesterday was a day of D&D. I met Sean and Jason at Cote Vertu and we played until about 10 pm. It was a long session, but the first battle, against two land sharks, took 2 hours! I thought about meeting up with the Boys afterwards, but they'd had a head start on the drinking, and I was tired. I just headed to Shane's place, arriving just before he did. We chatted about the evening, and crashed out. Well, he crashed out and I read for a bit. :) We were up fairly early today. Shane was expecting his friend Liam to come visit, but things didn't quite work out that way. He went to help Parker paint, and I went and bought the belt and jeans I'd been putting off purchasing. :P I also got a sweet argyle sweater and super comfy dress pants too. I spent a little more than I could really afford, but I really need new clothes. I met Parker and Shane at the Provigo on Parc and we went back to Parker's for some wine and a seafood jambalya. It was really good. We head back to my place around 8 or so, and spent some time curled up chatting. I'm about to go in, read for a bit, and hit the hay. I have an early morning - Kaylee is getting fixed tomorrow and I have to take her to the vet before work. Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming

Happy Friday!Today is my Friday! Woot! I'm super tired - I've been staying up too late (I know what a shock right? :P) and I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. Last night I rushed home to change and then ran down to Ambiance to get my eyebrows done for my photos tonight. Dre threatened to pluck me into non-existance if I didn't, and I figured it was best not to rish her wrath. lol It took about 10 minutes, and the girl who did them for me actually ended up being a good friend of Em's so we chatted about Mockingbird etc. Afterwards I popped into the Imperial to drop off my hot rollers for Woody to use. I chatted with him for a few minutes, stopped to hug Richard Roy, and ran home to eat because I was starving. I ended up being a few minutes late for Turtles, but the guys were still chatting so they didn't seem to mind.It was a good session, although it turns out that all of the crazy stuff that we used to get into actually was Anthony's fault. Ha ha! The highlight of the night had to be when 'Baron' thought he could fly but he had actually been picked up by an evil giant flying bug thing. The expression on his face was priceless! On the way down to have a drink with Aidan, I talked with a gal named Michelle who is in need of a place to live. She seemed nice, and down to earth (and not trying to get me to launder money for her :P) so I'm going to arrange for Adriano to show her the apartment on the weekend. I ended up being out too late again, but the company was good. :) Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming

Told Ya!After a painful day at work, I hit the sidewalks for a brisk walk home. It was a lovely day, not too hot or cold, and I enjoyed the walk immensely. It was just what I needed to unwind a bit. I tried to reach Richard a couple of times, but I think he's working nights... I got home about 6:15, had supper, and then it was off to Turtles. Turtles was a lot of fun. My new dice rolled awesome, I am happy to report. :P There was a great moment when I was controlling Baron (Anthony's character) and he was faced with 3 unknown liquids. I had him drink them. Unfortunately, the first two horribly disfigured him, but the third brought him back to full strength. John suggested that Anthony would 'kill' me, but I stood by the decision - he would totally do that. I also got him a cool new magic power - Fireball. After the game, John called to tell Anthony the news and asked what he would have actually done. Without hesitation, he said "Drink them." Ha ha! :) I also forfeited the tournament to let Nicole have the cybernetics - I'm leaving in 3 weeks, why does Zora need to be super powered? :P I got home to discover that Facebook was not working properly - it kept dropping the connection or saying I wasn't hooked up to the internet. As I was streaming the latest ep of HIMYM (which is *awesome* btw), I knew it was FB and not me. Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Stuff, TV

Sunny DispositionIt's a lovely day today! I'm totally going to walk home and enjoy the sunshine. It was a good weekend - very relaxing. I met Sarah at Churchill's for beer o'clock after work on Friday. We didn't stay too late - we ended up going to Quality and renting 'Once.' What a great movie. So sweet, and I've had the soundtrack for months. I highly recommend it. :) We chatted for a bit after the movie, and Sarah left around 11:30 to check on a sick Matt. Saturday I didn't do very much. I read until about noon, put my hair into rollers and watched a movie. About 4:45, I headed to Rob Roy's studio to take part in the photo shoot for the banners for SJTC's next season. It was Kizzy, Suzy, myself and a whole lot of cake. It was a lot of fun. :) Afterwards, I headed to Dre's to hang out before going to see Improv Corp down at Akhord. It was a good show, if a little long. It's the first time I've been in the position to just watch them perform since I was asked to leave the group. The long form was really tight, but I realized that performing a Harold is a lot more fun than watching it. It made the show a bit too long. I hung out at Akhord for a while, but everyone was heading out to Scott and Alison's (it seemed to be a cast only thing) so Brian and I went to Elwoods to see who was playing. It was some industrial goth band, so we skipped it and popped into Taco Pico to hang with Colleen and Doug for a bit. They have salsa night on Saturday nights, which I somehow did not know. :) I couldn't sleep when I got home, so I was up until about 3 am. I ended up sleeping fitfully thanks to a budding cough and didn't get out of bed until about 11. Sarah and I were supposed to check out 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' but she was stuck in Freddy so we rainchecked. I didn't really mind - I'm super broke - so we'll go Wednesday or something (after I get paid :P). I went for a short walk mid-afternoon, and watched a movie. Dre picked up Brian and myself at 5:35 to head out to Jay and Lisa's for D&D. It was a great session - lots of fighting and a surprise ending. :) I'm hoping we can figure out a way to conference me in to session after I move. :P Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Movies, Theatre

Friday's TuesdayThe problem with a two day work week is that Friday becomes one's Tuesday, and we all know how I feel about Tuesdays. Last night I headed down to Scott and Mare's for a 'Serenity' session. It was great! I got to threaten and intimidate people, get into a bar fight/shoot out, and show a bit of Mel's deeply hidden soft side. We finished up a little after 11. I read for a bit (I'm really enjoying 'American Gods,' as a pagan, I'm finding some of the concepts fascinating) and then went to bed. Today I had a bit of a hard time getting out of bed. That tickle in my chest that has been there since February and I thought culminated in that terrible sickness last month seems to be making a comeback and I'm not feeling great. I have a feeling I'll be taking it kind of easy this weekend. Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Health

1 1/2 Sleeps!I can hardly believe it's almost time to head back to Montreal! The last 7 weeks seemed to drag on and now it's in sight! Woot! I'm excited, and hoping everything will go smoothly in terms of finding a new home. The weekend was very busy, but lots of fun. Friday night I met Jason at Churchills and we had a couple drinks before he had to head to band practice at 7:30. I dropped into Brunswick Square to run an errand and I also picked up 'House of Leaves.' I was in the mood to rock out, so I made some calls and sent some texts. Eric was working at Elwoods but he suggested that I come down to see Slowcoaster. I ended up hanging out with Al for the evening, and we went to Elwoods around midnight. The place was packed, but the band was great! I also think I should have some sort of thing that pops up on my phone if I try to text while drunk. :P Saturday I woke up with a bit of a headache from a wee too much beer, but it was nothing a hot shower and extra strength Advil couldn't fix. I went down to Jave Moose around 3:30 with my book, curled up in one of the leather chairs in the window and before you know it, the girl was telling me that they closed in 15 minutes. I got completely wrapped up in the book! I got home a little after 5, and made a light supper. Jason texted at 6 to ask if I was up for a drink before 'Script Happens.' We went to Churchills, where we got in the wrong section. It was the young guy serving us - he brought our beer and then we didn't see him again for an hour, at which point it was way too late to get food. Jason walked me down to the museum and I chatted with folks before the show got started. I really enjoyed the first two shows of the evening. Again, I've got to give Keith props for committing to the chair humping. :) I had tears in my eyes by the time he finished. The last script I thought still needed a lot of work. I had expressed concern about the playwrites directing their own scripts, and this one was an example of a script that would have benefited from the eye of someone not so close to the material. I headed back to Churchills with Brian but it was packed, so I called Matt, who was on route to meet us, and we went to Thandi instead. I got a really good bowl of seafood chowder (only $5 - my beer was $7) that really hit the spot. We got to Elwoods a little after 11, just in time for the Penny Blacks set to start. I was so happy that they were able to play 3 of the 4 songs from the EP. I love 'Our Old Rooms' and enjoyed it with the full band. The Tom Fun Orchestra took the stage a little after midnight, and they were excellent. I danced pretty much the entire show. Afterwards, I chatted with the lead singer for a bit, and was pleased to hear that they'll be in Montreal this summer. If you haven't seen them play, you really should. :) I was wired when I got home, and ended up until about 3:30, woke up at 4:45-ish, read for a bit, and then slept from 7 to 10. Tired and restless, I went to Tim's for an iced capp and again got wrapped up in my book and ended up there for about an hour and a half. When I got home, I curled up on the couch, only putting my book down long enough to eat quickly around 4. I got completely absorbed and was startled when Dre called at 5:30 to say she'd be there soon to pick me up for D&D. It was a good gaming session, plus Lisa had made some of her famous chocolate chocolate chip cookies. Dre dropped me off around 11:30, and I chatted with Skot until about midnight. I again made the mistake of picking up my book, and it was 1 am when I next looked at the clock. I'm very tired today. I woke up again at around 4:45 and laid awake until about 6:30/6:45. I was particularly thrilled when my alarm went off at 7:45. *sigh* Labels: Books, Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Music, Theatre

I Was Shocked My Own SelfI ate quickly after work and headed out around 6:50 to Scott and Mare's. I ran into Brian on his way through the Square and we walked up together for our 'Serenity' session. I'm not entirely sure how it happened, but there were a ton of adventures, including a saloon brawl and Melinda managed to not be involved in any of them! Dre and Jay also surprised us with a cliff hanger ending that involved Dre's character getting shot and killed. It was late when we finished, but in all, a good game. I called Sarah when I got home to chat briefly. She left for Cuba at 10 am this morning. We're calling this our 'trial separation.' :P Except, you know, after I move, I'll still be able to text and email her regularly. ^_^ Anyone up for beer o'clock tonight? But I'm A Good GuyAfter work yesterday I did the responsible thing and went and got groceries. I kind of just wanted to go home and nap, but I do have to feed myself and my cats. :) I ate quickly when I got home and headed down to John's for my first TMNT session in well over a month. It was a lot of fun - we were engaged in a DOA style tournament. It's down to Nicole's character, Lee, and my character, Zora. Next week should be interesting. :) I got home a little after 10 and ended up playing "My French Tutor" until about midnight. I'm on lesson 40 of 977. My next lesson is random vocabulary words - the first 40 were the basics. It's actually a really great tool, I've been learning a lot. Can I carry on a conversation yet? I don't know, we'll find out tonight. :P Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming

Solved! The sunglasses are Skot's. Whew! I don't remember him wearing them the last time he was over, but Kaylee must have knocked them off of whatever he set them on. I'm glad that I didn't have an inept burglar. :) I didn't quite make it through the day yesterday. I went to the doctor in the morning, and ended up going home on the 3:25 bus. I picked up a prescription, grabbed a wrap from the Market for my supper, went home and went to bed for a few hours. It was a pretty quiet evening. I dropped into Dre's to do some D&D 'house keeping' and then went home, chatted with Sarah a bit, and then went to bed. I woke up in the middle of the night, as usual, and this time I'm glad I did. There was a power outage or surge or something at some point around 4 am and my alarm clock was flashing. This morning, I set up mobile alerts on FB. I'm sure I'll regret being able to get my wall posts and messages on my phone, but hey, if it gets too crazy, I'll just turn it off. :) Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Health, Stuff

Je suis un peu maladeJust how I like to start a Bluesday. :( Not that yesterday was wonderful. I was still feeling low yesterday - likely due to the fact that I was so overtired. Jay M took me uptown to have lunch with he and Dre which helped. D&D last night was a lot of fun, and just what was needed after a long day. We had what could have been a scary battle if not for some lucky rolls - it was the 'end of the day' and I was almost completely out of spells. Unfortunately, as the evening went on, my throat started feeling a bit scratchy. When I got home, I took a couple of Advil, and went to bed. I then laid awake, tossing and turning, feeling my heart pound. I got up around 1 am, Facebooked, started reading 'Pride & Prejudice,' this month's bookclub selection, and finally, around 2:30, my eyes felt heavy enough to turn my light off. It was a fitful sleep at best - I woke up a few times. My throat is definitely raw, and that tickle that I've had in my lungs for the past month is feeling less ticklish and more congested. Boo-urns. Happy Ostara!Today is the Spring Equinox when the hours of daylight are equal to the hours of darkness. Tomorrow we begin to have more light than dark. Blessed be! I opted to stay in and do nothing last night. It was glorious! ^_^ I ran into the grocery store after work to pick up something for supper (which reminds me I really need to find a vegetarian moussaka recipe...), some cat food and a few misc items. I watched the new episode of HIMYM while I ate, and then did my taxes. I was pleased to discover I'll be getting a decent refund, which will prove to be very timely I'm sure. :) I burned a couple of DVDs, and then settled in to watch 'Monster House.' It's a cute movie - it kind of reminded me a bit of 'The Goonies.' I Facebooked a little, then played my DS for a while, and got through a couple of lessons. I don't know that I'm ready to carry on a conversation in French yet, but my vocabulary is growing in leaps and bounds! Labels: Daily Life, Gaming, Movies, TV

Just WordsIt was a good weekend, for the most part. Friday I went to beer o'clock with Kizzy and the gang, and stayed there until about 8-ish before Scott and I went to his place to run lines. It was rough - I think we were just tired, but there were a lot of sketchy parts. I got home around 10:30 or so, but ended up being awake until around 1:30. Saturday I was up bright and early for rehearsal. The run went pretty good. There were a few shaky parts, but for the most part, it went well. We finished up around 2, and I relaxed for a couple of hours. Scott and Mare picked me up around 4, and we headed out to Jay and Lisa's to test his convention game. It ended up being a late night, but lots of fun. We finished up after midnight. I was a bit tipsy by the time I got home and ended up getting changed and spent 45 minutes or so running around in the rain. I was completely soaked, but felt completely rejuvenated afterwards. ^_^ Of course, it was (with the time change) 4 am by the time I got to bed. I woke up at 10 am (much to my dismay). Rehearsal was at 1, and also went very well. Again, a few shaky parts, but less than Saturday. It's certainly coming together. Pippa was there, and she laughed quite loudly at a few parts - I guess we've become so close to the material that we forget there are a few moments of humor in the show to break the tension. It threw us a bit, but in a good way. ^_^ We finished about 4:30, and I spent the evening hibernating since it was my last free night for the next week. I turned my phone off, turned up the TV and just vegged. It was kind of nice (although I think my DVD player may be dying. :( It was acting wonky and all of my discs were skipping). I didn't sleep well though. I was up until about 2:30 - I just could not relax. I think I got up about once every hour after that. My mind was racing - still is actually - and I have such a bad habit of over-thinking everything. Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Theatre

Lisa travaille sur sa listeYesterday was as long as I had thought it would be. :P I have a few highlights though - I spent the day emailing with Mare in French. Sure it took me forever to read each email and make sense of it, and even longer to respond, but I definitely feel I learned a lot and am making progress. I also had a friend running lines with me via email. It was very helpful! I treated myself to supper at the Thai Hut, and when Scott came to pick me up for rehearsal, Mare gifted me with "Learn French" game for the DS and headset! Thanks Mare - you're awesome!! ^_^ She also gave me a suit that is a bit too big for her but fits me perfectly. Yay presents! Rehearsal was very productive. I'm not nearly as off book as I should be, but I did know more of act 1 than I thought I did. I was very stressed out about it as I dislike being unprepared, but it certainly could have gone worse. I didn't get home until a little after 10, took a shower, and spent an hour chatting on the phone. Instead of going to bed like a normal person, I turned on the new game to give it a try. It's very fun! I'll be bilingual before you know it! ^_^ By the time I actually ended up turning off my light, it was about 1 am. I woke up again around 3:30 and poked around the apartment for a bit before going back to bed for a couple of hours. I'm drinking an energy drink right now. I rarely have them - I can already feel the caffeine buzz. It's a tastier delivery method than coffee - it's Red Rain and tastes vaguely like fruit juice. Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Theatre

Dirt and DramaIt has been a really long week, and I'm glad it's almost over. I don't really have time to be posting, but I need a break! Actually, I think I need a break in general. My upcoming trip is proving to be very timely (13 more sleeps! ^_^). Tuesday night was my regular date with Em - we watched "Eastern Promises." It was really good, and man, you've got to give props to Viggo for the completely nude fight scene. It takes guts to have your junk flopping around on screen! I woke up Wednesday feeling very flu-ish. I was pretty miserable actually, and spent the day alternating between the couch and my bed. It was a long and horrible day and surprisingly stressful. I was back to work yesterday, even though I wasn't feeling my best. I was greeted with a stack of work, literally, and spent the day with my nose to the grindstone. I barely dented the pile. The Serenity game last night was a welcome distraction - killing things always makes me feel less stressed. :P I got to do an old fashioned fast draw gun fight, and we did a couple of neat flashbacks. I got home around 11, chatted with a few folks via text messages and Facebook, and went to bed. Sarah has been my Friday night date these past couple of weeks, but she has a work function. I'm hoping someone is up for a drink after work with the possibility of checking out the Blue Olive later? Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Health, Movies

Song BirdTuesday night Em and Sarah came over. We enjoyed a tasty dinner of Phad Thai and then introduced Sarah to the glory that is "300." We even watched some of the behind the scenes stuff. No, the abs are not painted in. *happy sigh* Have I mentioned how much I love that movie? :-P Yesterday was a busy day. We were in training until 11:15, broke for an early lunch and then headed out to KV for our kick off. I always enjoy those kind of events. Kizzy was part of the entertainment - she was showing off her kick ass vocal stylings for the whole building - which was added fun. ^_^ I got home about 6:30, chatted with Sarah for a bit, and then headed out to Turtles. We had an action packed adventure - Zora now has impaired vision in her left eye permanently (thanks John!) - and we left in the midst of a huge battle with some shapeshifting horror monster as a second monster arrived. I think he's trying to kill us all off. :P I got home just before 11, ended up on the phone again until a little after midnight. I've really got to try to go to bed earlier, especially since I rarely sleep the night through. ^_^ (I think that might be why I'm still losing weight - I've been keeping really busy, but not sleeping more than 5 hours.) I've got about 4 songs in my head at the moment, all by Emiliana Torrini. I'm so glad I discovered her - I wonder if she'll be touring in Canada any time in the near furture, I'd love to see her live. Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Movies

TGIF!Anyone up for a drink with me and Sarah after work? It's been a *long* week! ^_^ Last night was our 'Serenity' game. We got started a bit late, so it ended up being a late night, but it was a good session. It always takes me longer to get into my character because she's very different than me. Tough as nails and only in it for herself. She's fun to play, but it does take me a while to find the rhythm. By the time I got home, it was a little after midnight, and I was wide awake. I surfed Facebook until about quarter to 1, read the latest 'Angel' (OMG! Talk about a shocker at the end of the issue!) and finally turned my light off at about 1:10 am. I'm a wee bit tired today, and I'm already counting down to 5:30. Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming

The GM Isn't Supposed to *Want* the Players to Die!Right? ^_^ So, after totally stressing about it, I got only 1 question wrong on my exam, and passed my demo with only a couple of flubs. :-P Boo-urns to test anxiety! I found out last night that I'm getting all of my power deposit back from canceling my SJ Energy service. That's going right on my credit card (and it pretty much pays for most of the airfare of my first trip of the year). I've just got to finalize dates and get it booked now. Yay! Turtles was a fun diversion. John, however, seems determined to ensure that we are all horribly disfigured, both physically and mentally. The GM isn't supposed to *want* us to die so that he wins! ^_^ Sure, make it tough, but do we need to fear for our character's lives every single session? Ha! Actually, that's half the fun of it. :-P I poked around the apartment for a bit when I got home, listened to some tunes, took a super long shower and finished readng "Blaze of Glory," the 4 part comic series Jay loaned me. It was really good, but of course, I started reading too late, so even though I was in bed at a moderately decent hour, I was up until almost 1. Some day I'll learn to go to bed at a decent hour. :-P I got up this morning, and hopped on Facebook for a bit to finalize movie plans with Mike, only to remember that we've got Serenity tonight. I'm not sure how I managed to be looking forward to it while completely forgetting about it. :-P Luckily he was cool about me being a mook, and willing to raincheck. Maybe now we can check out "Cloverfield" which opens tomorrow... Labels: Daily Life, Gaming

I'm Right There With YouRock Band with Al on Friday night was a blast. I got there a bit after 8, and left around 2 am. ^_^ I even managed to play a couple of songs on medium on the drums. Woot! I so want that game - if only I had room in my apartment for the drums. :-P Saturday I slept in a bit, started doing some reading. Around 1-ish I was feeling cooped up and ended up going for a run since it was so nice out. It turns out I was a little overly ambitious - I ran 5k in about 38 minutes. I was running slow because I didn't want to over do it, not thinking that after not running for about 6 or 8 weeks that 5k in itself was probably over doing it. :-P It was a great run though, and I felt awesome afterwards. I showered etc. and then went back to my reading. Around 5 I had supper and then spent some time straightening up etc. for company. I had a great time with the girls Saturday night. Studio 54 had some prime people watching and I was able to get my boogie on. ^_^ Yesterday I didn't sleep as much as I would have liked, but I was feeling pretty stiff and my hips were sore from my run. I puttered around the apartment, did some homework for a few hours. Around 3, I went for a walk to loosen up and enjoy the nice weather. I spent about 45-50 minutes out and about. I took my camera, cranked the iPod and just walked about. I love walking when I don't have somewhere specific to go and the streets are quiet. Dre picked me up about quarter to 5 and we headed out to Jay and Lisa's for D&D. It was the finale for the section of the campaign we were on. It had two pretty big battles, and one big surprise at the end. I'm looking forward to our next game - things are going to be different! When I got home, I watched episode 11, The Platinum Rule, of How I Met Your Mother, season 3 online (it's brilliant!) before heading to bed. Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Health, TV

Thanks for the SmileI've been thinking about it all morning, and it makes me grin. You're awesome. Yesterday we spent the entire day doing e-learning courses. My head was so full of information that I was experiencing a sensation that was not unlike having medicine head. ^_^ Our trainer was kind enough to let us go a little early, and I got a lift home from Rob. It was nice to have a bit of extra time - I was able to download the entire "Juno" soundtrack before Turtles. I'm totally in love with it. Our Turtle adventure was, as usual, lots of fun. Hijinks ensued. ^_^ Afterwards, I walked down to the bank to make a deposit before heading home. It was windy and damp, but actually a pretty nice night. I love walking in the rain (when it's not cold). There is just something invigorating about having the wind whipping your hair around and rain on your face. The rest of the evening was spent hunting down music. I'm not normally big into music, but I've been on a kick, and I've been finding lots of really fun and cool tunes by randomly clicking on friends' iLike music lists and various artists. I'm mad about a song called "Coin-Operated Boy" by 'The Dresden Dolls' (which apparently makes me Person of the Day ^_^), anything by The Dandy Warhols is making me happy, and how cool is Emilania Torrini? Sometimes it's not fun being right...But that is another story... We had a great Turtles session last night. Warning: I'm going to geek out here. :-P Damn Zora for being so nice! I comfortingly patted the hand of a mutated bomb survivor and was infected by a horrible flesh eating disease. We spent the rest of the session trying to rescue the Ant Queen because she was both the cause and the cure to the disease, and she was being held captive by evil insect creatures with laser guns. Al's character had got a faceful of diseased goo in his face when the infected guy we ran into was 'put out of his misery' (we're terrible heroes :-P) and since he figured he was going to die anyway, he took on the evil bugs so that we could rescue the queen. He did okay at first and then got knocked unconcious when he took 60 points of damage from a laser blast. They turned their attention on me. I was able to dodge 2 of the 3 attacks, and was lucky that John rolled my damage poorly, and I only took 20 points of damage. We rescued the queen, killed the bad guys, and got cured. It also turns out I've got the fun new rift power of telepathy! I lost a finger on my right hand permanently, but I fared better than Al who lost his right cheek and an ear. :-P When I got home, I surfed a bit on Facebook, chatting with Val for a while, read the latest issue of Angel, played with the kitties and went to bed. I Can Hardly Stand the Wait, Please Friday Don't Be Late!I am *so* ready for it to be the weekend. I had an interview yesterday for another position within the company. I think it went well, but it's hard to tell. It was really busy all day, so I didn't have time to mentally prepare for it so I was a bit nervous. I'm hopeful. I *really* need the change though - I've been pretty bored with my job lately. I got home, stared in my fridge for a bit, and then opted to go to Quality for curry for supper before TMNT. Sabine surprised me with some Austrian chocolates when I arrived and I tried one right away. Mmm.... So. Good. (Thanks again Sabine!) Turtles wasn't too bad, but we could have done with at least one battle! It was all post-apocalypse exposition, which is good, but again, no killing. ^_^ We finished early, about 9:30, so I was home by about quarter to. Of course, now that my internet is getting hooked up today, I had internet access last night for about an hour. I think someone in the building doesn't know how to password protect their wireless so they're turning off their router. I was able to update all of my Scrabulous games before it shut down again. :-P I spent some time playing with Zedd and Kaylee, which included Kaylee getting feathers caught in her teeth and me chasing her around so that I could get them out. They seem to be appreciating the extra attention. Zedd's been downright perky! I went in to bed about 11:15, tired, with the intention of reading for just a few minutes to unwind and then going to bed. When I looked at my clock next, it was 12:45. I'd totally been sucked in by the book. :-P Tonight Dre is coming over and we're going to put up my new (to-me) tree. All of my holiday music is on Anthony's external hard drive, but we'll make do with just playing some Christmas movies. Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming

Tuesday BlahsYesterday was another busy day at work, although not nearly as crazy as last week thankfully. We had an interesting session of D&D with Jay and Lisa. I've been having a great time with my new spells and powerful shape shift form. ^_^ I watched a couple of episodes of "How I Met Your Mother" season 2 while I spent some time playing with Zedd and Kaylee to wear them out. ^_^ Season 2 is a little less depressing oddly enough, because the first part of it deals with Marshall and Lily's break up and I can kind or relate to Marshall. :-P Kaylee is pretty hilarious - she's actually kind of scared of the feathers on the stick. Getting ByThis has been a very long week. Work has been crazy busy, I've been working my butt off trying to get unpacked and trying to adjust to my new home. I've been feeling kind of lonely and missing him like mad but I've been trying to keep my friends close. I have actually been doing okay. I've had whole blocks of minutes where I didn't feel completely miserable. Wednesday, I don't think I cried at all and I guess that is something. Last night I headed down to John's temp apartment for a super fun TMNT adventure. It was action packed, and we had a lot of laughs and really great moments. It was full of suspense and hijinks. At one point, John announced that nuclear warheads had been fired and the bombs would go off at some point between 9:40 and 10:20 pm and from then on, we were playing in real time. Every time we would get into discussions, he would look at his watch pointedly. :-P We finished up a little after 10, and Doug and Colleen swung by about 10:35 to take us out to the airport to meet Sabine's flight. She seemed pleasantly surprised to have such an exhuberant welcome. ^_^ She looked tired, understandably, so we didn't stick around long. I'm so glad she's back! By the time I got home it was 11:45 and there was a note on the door that they would be changing my locks and installing my shelves etc. today. So I got everything ready, wrote out the instructions regarding what was to go where, and made sure everything was handy. It was one by the time I turned out the light. I'm a bit tired today, but at least its Friday. Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Stuff

Stress Belly - Day 2Dre invited me to have supper with her before heading out to Jay and Lisa's for some D&D. It was a short session, but fun. I got to kill a couple of things - just what I needed to feel better. I got some cool new spells, plus my shape shift ability got an 'upgrade' when I leveled. I was so tired I went right to bed, but ended up being so overtired I couldn't actually fall asleep. I got up and poked around on the computer until midnight and then finally was able to sleep. I'm not as tired today, and thus not so emotional. I am still super stressed about the move though. My heart is rebelling against what my brain is telling me will be a good thing. I know that moving will be good, but my heart is not quite so willing to accept defeat. It all still seems wrong. I'll get there... I've also never really lived alone, and I often have intruder nightmares (nightmares which have come back full force in the last month) so I'm a little freaked out about the whole thing. Today I'm actually flip flopping back and forth between feeling hurt and sad to feeling a bit angry about everything. I suppose that's good too - that's the next step in healing, or so they say. This is completely terrible, and unfair, but not my fault, and that is making me kind of mad. Labels: Daily Life, Gaming, Stuff

Boo-urns on You, Monday!Gah! I woke up late this morning and ended up rushing around the apartment, and still managed to miss my bus. So, I wandered to Jave Moose, got a latte to console myself, called work to advise I missed my bus and caught the 9:02. 15 minutes late for work, and I ended up playing catch up all morning. :-P It was a busy weekend, but good for all that. After work on Friday, I went to get groceries, and Anthony picked me up there. After we got everything put away, I realized I'd forgotten a few things, and we ended up running out the mall. We headed to the Blue Olive to use the last of our gift certificates around 8:30, and to hear Kizzy sing for a bit. We went a bit over board with an order of Saganki, and I got the moussaka (which I had totally been craving). Yum! :-d Dre arrived about 10-ish, and we hung out with her for a while, but Anthony looked like he was going to nod off at the table, so we headed out around quarter after 11. Saturday we were up bright and early-ish and off we went to the east side to have lunch with Anthony's mom, aunt, sister and Ryan. We finished about quarter after 12, just enough time to run home, get our scripts etc. and head to rehearsal. We did two (very) rough runs of Act 2. There were some parts we hadn't had a chance to really work last week, so the first run through was a bit sloppy. The second run was much better though. After work, we had some time to kill, so off we went to the mall for Starbucks. Mmmm... :-d (I'm glad that it's out at the mall - if there was one uptown, I'd be in trouble!) I also picked up a pair of black ballet flats that were on sale - they'll make a good rehearsal shoe. We joined Jenn's birthday party at Chris and Suzy's about 9:45-ish, and hung out enjoying wine, delicious cake a la Suzy, and laughs. About 12:40-ish, I got the urge to go out, so on a whim, I called Keith to see what he was doing. He humored me and came uptown, and joined Anthony and I at Ozone for some dancing. After the club closed, we checked back at Chris and Suzy's but the lights were out, so we headed home. I slept in on Sunday but woke with a really stiff neck and super sore shoulders. I don't know if it was due to the dancing or sleeping funny, but it did not feel good (It still doesn't actually). Anthony ran into Alex and Emily on their way to lunch, and we chatted with them for a bit. We did some window shopping in the afternoon, looking at 42" flat screens at Future Shop (*drool*), had Starbucks, and headed home. It was relaxing. ^_^ We had a quick bite, and then it was out again, this time for D & D at Jay and Lisa's. It was an exciting adventure, full of lots of battles. We left at a bit of a cliff hanger, which is too bad because it will probably be a couple of weeks before we can play again. D'oh! ^_^ Labels: Daily Life, Food, Friends, Gaming, Theatre

Back to ItSeptember already! Where did the summer go? I know, technically, it's still summer until the 21st, but still... Friday night I went out to Scott and Alison's with Kristi, Sabine and John for a going-away dinner for Sabine. The new kitchen looks incredible, and dinner was amazing as always. I was pretty beat, however, and ended up ducking out with Dre at about 10:30/11. Saturday, thanks to another terrible sleep, I slept in, and didn't really get moving until it was time to head over to John and Sabine's. I went with them and John's dad to the airport to see her off, and then it was back in town. Dre and I ended up at Boilerworks for a drink, and dinner. I had the portobello mushroom burger, which was tasty except for the pile of wasabi mayo that was piled on. I had to scrape it off because it was so overpowering. We popped in to Lawtons for some bandaids (my shoes had created and popped a blister on my toe) and then we headed to Harbour Station so Dre could pick up her Cirque de Soleil ticket for the Sunday matinee. We ended up at her place, checking the listings and went with Colleen to see "The Nanny Diaries," which was cute (especially Harvard Hottie played by the yummy Chris Evans). I was in a mood to do something, so we ended up down at O'Leary's for a couple of beer and then Churchills for a drink. Anthony, back from surfing, was very tired, and we ended up going home about midnight. There was an amusing interlude where Keith popped over to borrow pants from Anthony around 12:30. :-P Sunday started out lazy and then it was out to run errands. I had to take something back to Zellers, which was a disaster. There is definitely a disconnect that happens to people while waiting in line. You don't need to give your life story people; just tell them why you want to return it and have the item you are exchanging it for ready! Grrr! Then it was off for groceries at the insanely busy Superstore. We hung out for a bit, stopped at Harvey's for veggie burgers and then it was off to Jay and Lisa's for our D&D session. Yesterday I woke up feeling off. At quarter to 2, I tried Anthony's cell and his work number, wondering where he was as we were supposed to go out to Jay and Lisa's to watch movies. He had misunderstood when I said I'd see how I was feeling when it was time to go and went without me. :-P I spent the day 'researching' by watching Angel, gaming, reading, and doing some laundry. It was kind of nice. :-P Labels: Daily Life, Food, Friends, Gaming, Movies, TV

At Least It's FridayIt's been a long week. With various things planned etc., I'm left feeling a little spaced. I'm glad that it is a long weekend. Three glorious days where I don't have to work. Hopefully the time off will help me get out of the funk I'm in. Last night Jay picked me up after work, dropped me off so I could change while he headed to Hong Kong take out to pick up our dinner. We were had a Serenity session planned, and chinese is always a good food choice when entering the 'Verse. ^_^ We headed over to Scott and Mare's about quarter to, chatted with Scott for a bit, and then settled into the game. Mare arrived about a half hour in, Anthony showed around 8:30-ish and Dre arrived about 9:15-ish. It was a good session, with lots of action, and me getting to blow the heads of bad guys. The chwen bad guys didn't have a chance. Sure, I almost got killed, but that's half the fun. ^_^ I had a really hard time getting to sleep when we got home. I was wide awake until 2, then tossed and turned until about 3. I am looking forward to Sabine's going away do at S & A's tonight. It will be nice to do something social, especially since Anthony is away for the night. At least it's Friday... Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming

Taking A BreakAh back to school. It's been crazy busy here at work. Blech! :-P Let's see, Monday I ran home from work. I was supposed to do 6 km, but I was apparently spaced out, because I forgot my wrap at home. I took it easy, but at about 3.5 km, I stepped hard, and felt a twinge in my ankle, so I slowed my pace and cut it short, ending at 5.41 km. *sigh* I had a bite to eat, pulled out my Buffy books, and watching some Angel as research while I waited for Chris to come over. He'd already created a great backstory that fit right in with my version of the Buffyverse, so we got his qualities, drawbacks, skills, attributes and maneuvers figured out, and now he's ready to play. ^_^ Anthony got home from his run as we were finishing up, and he spent a few minutes showing both Chris and John some of "Bioshock." It's a cool game. At least, it looks cool. ^_^ I'm enjoying watching him play it (I can't play first person shooters for two reasons 1: I've never been able to master the console shooter controls and end up enraged when I can't kill anything and 2: things that jump out at me make me freak out and button mash). :-P Last night Anthony picked me up (from Jay - whoa hoa! :-P) to reveal he'd bought me sushi for supper. Yummy california rolls. :-d Sushi being quick and easy, I was able to get changed and gather up my TMNT stuff for 6:30. Anthony was all eager to get going because Al was rolling his character. Because we got there so early, we had time to chat with Sabine, who has already got a great mark on her thesis, but was proud to say that with a little more work, she'll get the Austrian equivalent of an A on it. Yay Sabine! ^_^ Our TMNT adventure was all kinds of wacky, as usual. I got to play as my character's sensai since Zora is still out cold. There was a moment of panic when I thought he was going to drown because a mutant whale got in our way. :-P Then it was home to get a few things done at the house and to bed. RelaxOur vacation day on Friday ended up being a very quiet day. Anthony had come down with a cold, so he spent the day resting, and I gamed and read. Since it was rainy, it wasn't too bad, but it would have been nice to go on some sort of day adventure. I headed over to the Somerset Pub at 7:30-ish to get set up for Liz's karaoke shindig. Anthony was feeling too sick to stay, so he just dropped me off and went back home to bed. The karaoke was big fun, but I wrapped it up at midnight; I was actually pretty tired and not really feeling up to any more socializing. :-P Saturday, since Anthony was still feeling ill, we cancelled our Fundy Trail trip, and went to see "War," which was a little disappointing. Jet Li and Jason Statham, but hardly any action. WTF? Since we'd already planned to hang with John and Sabine, we invited them over, and watched "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon," a great mockumentary about the next great super natural psycho slasher, and "Ravenous," which is an awesome movie, except for some bizarre soundtrack choices. We popped down to Tapps after the second movie to say hello and give best wishes to Greg and Chris who are getting married this weekend, but we didn't stay too long. We ended up staying up pretty late though; Anthony had rented "Bioshock" for the 360. I half watched him play while curled up with the DS and before you know it, it was almost 4 am! Needless to say, we slept in yesterday. :-P We ended up just hanging out until 4:30, and then we headed out to Jay and Lisa's for D&D, which is always fun. ^_^ I really should have gone for a run yesterday, but I was feeling lazy. I'll do it today; it'll be good. Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Movies

Getting Buff - Buffy that isThanks to some super slow days at work this week, I've been able to get a lot of prep work done for the Buffy-verse game I'm planning to run. It should be big fun, once I get it up and running. The challenge will be finding time to get together with people to create their characters. ^_^ Last night I ran home. It started out as a good run, but I was having a hard time maintaining my pace. Every time I looked at my iPod, I was going way faster than I realized. By the 2/3 mark, I was started to feel it. I'm glad it was only a 5 km day, because that last half kilometre was tough! I ate supper and headed down to go 'shopping' at Dre's. She was getting rid of some of her wardrobe that was sitting idle, and I was happy to help take a few pieces off her hands. We ended up chatting until 10, and I went home to curl up with 'Stardust,' which Dre also happened to have. I'm already about half way through; it's very good. Tonight we're having dinner with John, Sabine and Sabine's brother, Peter. It will be nice to see him; I met him when we visited Austria, and was afraid I'd miss him this visit altogether. Taking a Break From the Work DramaI don't know if it's the heat, the recent full moon or what, but my gods, people are being major drama queens today! I totally need a moment to save my sanity! Friday night we gathered at Studio 10 to see The Simpsons Movie. It was better than I was expecting, and I was pretty pumped for it. ^_^ My only disappointment was that I couldn't sit next to John to see his expression of childlike delight. ^_^ After the movie, we went to Boston Pizza for a beer, and to chat about it before heading home. Saturday we were up early. I had to weigh in and then we had improv at 11. Improv was interesting, made all the more so by the drunk who harassed us. Afterwards, I stopped for dolma in the market, and we headed home. I read and gamed for most of the afternoon. We ended up having a few folks over and went to karaoke with Mo, Kathleen and Mary Ellen at a pool hall on the west side. He had a good selection, but the host was new to karaoke and didn't know some of the cardinal karaoke rules (like don't let one person sing 15 times when there are people who haven't sung yet). Sunday we slept in a bit after the late night. Keith had crashed at our place, and we gave him a lift home so he could get ready for a Simpsons date with John. Since we were out and about, we headed east and I rented "Viva Pinata" for the 360. We ended up going to see "Hairspray," which was a fun film. Anthony had to work on the program, so I spent the evening gaming and reading. Nice and relaxing. It's too bad D & D ended up cancelled since it will be a few weeks before we can have a session. Yesterday was a crazy day at work. There was just the two of us and it was busy! I ran home (finishing at a personal best ^_^) and met Anthony for a coffee since he had to work late. It actually was a really good run. Probably one of the best ever. It just felt good from beginning to end. The night was pretty mellow since Anthony was working late. I ended up just watching Angel. It's research. Really. Labels: Daily Life, Gaming, Health, Movies, Theatre, TV

Work on Hot Summer Days Could be Called Cruel and Unusual PunishmentLet's see, what's been what since my last post? Umm... Tuesday I ran home from work. It turns out that from work to my front door is just shy of 4.5 km, at least, on the route that I take. It was a good run, it took me about 35 minutes running at a 7:32 pace. My new sneakers are awesome! I ate supper quickly and then it was off to TMNT. Zora's heart didn't explode, but I can't heal. Considering she's now unconcious and in the minus hit points thanks to a plane crash, that really sucks. Hopefully I'll be able to get help in the next episode. Last night was improv practice. It was a good one. We did part of an Armando, which was challenging. It's very similar to The Harold, and we're a little rusty. I've no doubt that a couple more practices should get us back up to where we need to be though. Maybe I'll watch our three Harolds from February to brush up. ^_^ Tonight I've got a run to do. I'm hoping it will cool off considerably by the time I get off work. It's a tad hot today. :-P Labels: Daily Life, Gaming, Health, Theatre

Stupid Immune System...It was a busy weekend. Friday I got groceries immediately after work, partly because we were out of food and because we were invited to Brett and Lorianne's to BBQ. The BBQ was big fun, and involved lots of fun, food and good company. I bailed around 12:30 as we had a big day Saturday. Saturday I woke up with a migraine, so I skipped on improv and slept until about 12:30. I got up, ate quickly and then headed out for my run, which was brutal. I was supposed to do 5.5 km, and ended up doing about 4 thanks to a wicked crick in my side that I just couldn't breathe through. After the run, I ran around town getting a few things for the bachelorette party. I got home around 2:30, showered and then spent some time getting the apartment presentable. The party itself was a lot of fun. We played some silly games, Suzy got some great gifts and was a good sport about the wacky stuff we made her do. ^_^ Sunday I slept in, of course. I headed down to the Running Room about 12:30 to get a pair of sneakers and I also was able to get the Nike iPod kit as well as a shoe attachment since my sneakers are not Nike. ^_^ I can't wait to try them out! The afternoon was spent quietly until it was time to head to Jay and Lisa's for an action packed D & D adventure. I may have to leave my comrades to their fate if things get much worse though! :-P Unfortunately, around 8 pm, my throat started feeling a bit sore. By the time we went home, it was really sore and my glands were starting to swell up. I woke up Monday morning with a burning throat, no voice and a fever. Needless to say the last couple of days have not been fun. Stupid immune system not doing it's job. :-( I'm at work today, but I'm forcing my voice. I should be home but just couldn't take another day. I may end up having to go home though; I'm not feeling great... Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Health

Another WednesdayI wish it was Friday... My run home last night felt particularly challenging. I really had to push myself to get through the last kilometer. I think I may have been just too tired... I grabbed my stuff and Anthony and I headed out for TMNT. It was a good session, although I think Zora may end up killed or severely injured. :-( I hope not: I really like the character and don't want her to die! We went to Tims with Scott and John afterwards for a coffee, or in my case, a tea. Then it was home to bed. I crashed hard and actually slept through my alarm clock the first two times it went off. :-P I ended up rushing around this morning, which I hate doing. I feel all off now. *sigh* Maybe the day will go by quickly... Labels: Daily Life, Gaming, Health

A Hair Pullin' Good TimeI'm going crazy. I've got about 25 bugs bites on each leg and tops of my feet. They are *so* itchy. :-( Friday night Anthony, John, Sabine and I went to check out "As You Like It" on the Rothesday Commons. The weather held out; it was a bit foggy and cool, but nothing a sweather and blanket couldn't take care of. It was really entertaining, cute and quirky. The cast seemed to be having a lot of fun and their enthusiasm was infectious. My only critique would be there was a lot of upstaging going on and I often found my attention drawn to the background characters, not those moving the plot forward and I missed some of what was going on. A minor flaw in an otherwise stellar show. Saturday Anthony and I *should* have got up early to go for a run. However, we were cozy and by the time we got up, it was late. We started to get ready for the run, but Doug called and sounded in need of company, so we went with him to the Big Stop for pancakes instead. By the time we finished, we didn't have enough time, and we headed out to Yessy's for my team BBQ with my co-workers. It was a good time, despite a 'Fear Factor' style challenge that had me shooting cold clam chowder, eating a chunk of mystery meat which turned out to be dog food, and a live slug, at which point I gave up and settled for 2nd place. We left about midnight, and I went home to bed. Anthony went with Jay out to the "As You Like It" cast party (Anthony didn't want to miss writing on the wall). Yesterday, I woke up early but I dozed off and on, and read for a bit before finally getting up to go for my run. I did aproximately 5.5 km (I really need to invest in the Nike iPod running kit) in 44 minutes. I ran down Duke Street, up Water, around Lower Cove Loop to Union, down around the Red Rose Tea building, looped around the parking lot, back down Harbor Passage along the boardwalk, and up Duke to home. It was a tough run, but with the exception of some sore gluts today, it felt really good. I popped a lasagna in the oven, showered, ate and headed to the Millers' for D & D. It had a slow start, but once we got into the action, it was pretty exciting, and ended on quite the cliff hanger. I got to use some fun spells, including one where I was able to talk to plants. :-P Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Health, Theatre

Zora - Action HamsterI ran home after work last night as I had a 30 min run scheduled. The last time I ran home, it took me 34 minutes to get to the lighthouse at the Hilton. Last night, by the time my 30 minutes were up, I'd made down Water Street and up Duke to Prince William. Yay me! :-P I devoured some leftovers, tasty sweet and sour chicken and a colorful salad with strawberries, cherry tomatoes, raisons, oranges and red wine mist dressing, changed, gathered my stuff and headed down to John and Sabine's for TMNT. I've been watching too many action movies lately, so I jumped on a motorcycle, raced under the monster, threw grenades at the Armadillos, leaped off my bike and crashed it into the bad guy controlling the giant lizard. Aw yeah! ^_^ Of course, I was terrified every time I rolled that I was going to fail miserably and end up dead. But, luck was with me. The guys managed to keep the big guy off my back, swarmed the guys behind me with their 400 prairie dogs and I was able to slice and dice the bad guy. We broke early because the monster was dead. Anthony went with Keith to see Transformers since it was the only chance Keith had to go. I watched the last two episodes of "How I Met Your Mother" (season 2). I wish I didn't have to wait for season 3! I gamed a bit, read some, and went to bed. Labels: Daily Life, Food, Friends, Gaming, Health

I Wish I Had One More Day Off...Long weekends are never long enough. :-P Even when you've taken an extra day to make it even longer. *sigh* :-P Friday I gloried in some sleeping in. Anthony and I went for lunch at the Market before heading over to the Nature Park for a run. He needed to do 8 km, and I needed to do 5 km. It was my first run in the Nature Park, and it was great! Running on the paths is so much easier on the legs, and it's just a nice change of scenery. I'm looking forward to more runs there in the future. We were supposed to go over for groceries, but after showering Anthony felt like a nap. We went east to run some errands, and to get groceries, but the errands took longer than expected and we ended up just having enough time to grab something to BBQ. Doug had invited us over to enjoy their deck, so we fired up the grill, drank some beer, and ended up staying to watch "Shooter." (I found it kind of dragged out and predictable.) Saturday we were up early. I stopped in to weigh in, and then we headed out of town to Moncton to meet up with Sandra and David. The weather was calling for partly cloudy, so we figured our Bouctouche plans would still be good. As we drove into Bouctouche, it was pouring out, so we stopped into Pizza Delight (apparently Bouctouche doesn't have a bar...) for a beer to wait out the storm. Once it stopped, the sun was shining and it was mostly warm, so we headed to the Dunes. We had a picnic lunch and managed to enjoy the brief moments of sun. We even watched a thunder storm moving across the water to PEI, which was cool. In the end, however, the weather was just too unpredictable, and too cold for sunbathing (especially without sun). We drove into Shediac to have supper. I had a tasty lobster wrap, and side salad. We headed back into Moncton, chatted with Sandra and David a bit before heading back to Saint John. We got back into town a little after 10, just in time to catch the grocery store for some snacks and salad stuff. We ended up watching "Stomp the Yard" when we got home. The story was a little cliched but I enjoyed it. The stomp routines were quite interesting... Sunday we were up at a fairly decent time. Anthony left around 12:30 to do his 20 km run as called for by his training schedule. I enjoyed some How I Met Your Mother while waiting for him to return. We headed out to Kizzy's around 3:30. Thanks again Kizzy for the hospitality and a great party. It was a blast! Yesterday I got up and did a 3 km run as part of my training. The afternoon was spent quietly. I watched How I Met Your Mother, Anthony had a coffee with John, and then we headed out to Jay and Lisa's for some D & D. It wasn't action packed but some of the role playing was interesting. We managed to get to the King's birthday, but the party was just starting when we left. ^_^ So, tonight we are hitting the movie theatre for The Transformers. I'm super pumped. We're going to the late show (I'm not sure which one yet - Anthony was going to get tickets this afternoon). It's gonna be awesome! ^_^ Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Health, Movies, TV

It's Just a Dragon...After work, Jay came with me for a 20 minute run. After the run, I rushed home to grab my TMNT stuff, something I could microwave and off I went to John and Sabine's for our weekly meeting. It was, as usual, an action packed adventure with a bunch of wacky hijinks courtesy of the die system. At one point, Kei (Chris), Savannah (Dre) and my character, Zora, very stealthily climbed down a wall and then failed all three of us failed our prowl roll and got caught by three gun toting iguanas. :-P Kei got caught and we were forced to leave him in the hands of the enemy. I can't wait for next week when we fight a giant lizard! ^_^ Don't forget, tonight is round one of TotE auditions. We've got some interesting scripts selected, and we're doing a special project in collaboration with the PRIDE folks, so you should definiately come out. YawnToday definiately feels like a Monday. If only I was outside in the sun and not stuck in here. Let's see... After work on Friday I went for a 40 min run. I did 2 and 1's as it was my longest run to date and didn't want to push it. I ran just shy of 5 km, and I felt pretty good afterwards. Anthony was out with Dan, so I curled up on the couch and watched LotR: The Fellowship of the Ring, and some of the behind the scenes stuff before heading to bed. Saturday I planned on getting up early, but ended up sleeping in. Anthony and I went for lunch at the market (I'm so glad the Korean ladies opened up a stall-I thought perhaps they'd left for good!) and I had the spicy BBQ pork and rice noodles. I ended up with a bunch of leftovers. Yum! I popped into Lawtons and then made my way back home to relax. We headed to Scott and Alison's about 6:30, just in time for the super tasty brisket. Mmmm... :-d As always, thank you S & A; you two are the bestest! Full of beef and sides, we ended up just hanging out there, chatting, we played a few rounds of Pit, watched a couple Futurama and headed home. Yesterday was a busy day. I got up and went for a 4 km run. It was a tough run. I got a crick in my side at the 1 km mark and couldn't shake it. It made for a less than pleasant running experience, and ended up taking longer than I would have liked. I wasn't able to go to the gym as planned, but rushed home to shower and eat (my leftovers :-d) before heading east. Christine's wedding shower was at 2, but I had to stop at the mall to get a few things. It was pretty good as far as showers go... I've never really understood the whole shower thing... The shower finished at 4. I gamed for a bit afterwards while Anthony went for a run. He got back a little after 6, just enough to eat quick and shower before we headed to Jay and Lisa's for D & D. It was a slow start - mostly because I was very unsure as to what was going on. Everyone was very patient with me though. I think I know what's what now however. ^_^ It was a little after 11 when we got home. I gamed a bit and then went to bed. I actually didn't sleep well. I had this recurring nightmare all night. I was trapped in some horrible house, and I managed to escape. Anthony followed me out, and chased me down the driveway, asking what I was doing. We turned left at the bottom of the drive, and I told him I'd had it and wasn't going to just wait around to die. We heard sounds, and hid behind a bush. Two male figures walked by, and somehow realized we were there. They charged towards us, and when they drew close, they were hideously deformed. I tried to scream but couldn't make more than a croak. I awoke with my heart pounding. I probably had the same dream 4 times last night. When my alarm went off, I was exhausted. :-( That finished at 4 pm Labels: Daily Life, Dreams, Food, Friends, Gaming, Health

Thank Gods It's Friday!Lisa and Jay came over last night so Jay and I could do some character development on my new D & D character. I need to come up with a name for her, but she's an Elf Druidess. I'm looking forward to playing her; I think she'll make for a challenge. My TMNT character is very flakey, my Serenity character is a hard ass, and now I've a very wise if cold and aloof D & D character. I haven't played my TMNT Aussie character yet; it will be interesting to see how she turns out... Jay and Lisa also gave Anthony and I souvenirs from Scotland. They gave me a pewter keychain (I love keychains, silly as that is) and a beautiful little memory/jewelry box with a blonde fairy perched on the lid. Anthony got a sparkly blue dragon. Thanks Jay and Lisa!! It's nice to be thought of. ^_^ Dre also popped over so that she could level her D & D character, so I had a full livingroom for a while. They left around 11, and I got ready for bed, only to realize I'd forgotten to make chili for the potluck that was going on at work today. So, at 11:30, in my pjs, I started making chili. I got the soy on, and as I was opening the first can of 4, the can opener broke. The handle you turn broke right off. Anthony ended up using the juice triangle thing to poke holes along the lids of the remaining 3 cans so I could get them on. Then after I dumped the can of tomatoes into the pot, I realized I'd grabbed the whole tomatoes, not the diced. It's actually kind of hard to slice up tomatoes when they are in a pot full of beans and ground soy. :-P My 15 minute chili ended up taking a half hour. By the time I cleaned up, and got to bed, it was about 12:30. I woke this morning pretty tired, and decided that since I had a pot to take with me, I'd sleep in and take a cab rather than lug the pot on the bus with me. I got 3/4 of the way to work, in the cab, before I realized I'd forgotten the chili. It was a total blonde moment. :-P My co-worker Anne was kind enough to bring me home during my break this morning to get it. Then the potluck. I am *so* full right now! All I can say is "Oh! My points!" and "Good thing I have a run scheduled for this evening." :-P Labels: Daily Life, Food, Friends, Gaming

Tuesday BlahsI know I've said it before and I've no doubt I will say it again, but I hate Tuesdays. Okay, hate is a strong word, but I certainly don't like them. I woke up this morning wanting to just stay in bed, and once I got to work, pretty much anywhere would have been better than here. *sigh* Last night I hit the gym for a 20 minute run on the treadmill and an upper body workout. Anthony ran me over to the movie theatre afterwards for my movie date with Michelle. We went to see Pirates of the Carribbean: At World's End. I liked it as much as I liked the second one, but it wasn't as enjoyable as the first. Tonight is our weekly TMNT meeting. I'm looking forward to an action packed adventure now that we're all in Mexico. ^_^ Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Health, Movies

Waiting on WednesdayLet's see... Monday after work I went to the gym to switch my member ship from the couple rate as Anthony is cancelling his membership to the Xerox corporate rate, which is actually very reasonable. I then did 20 minutes on the treadmill doing 3 and 1's. Running on the treadmill seems easier; maybe its because its no problem to maintain pace. ^_^ I also did a good upper body workout, although I think it may be time to increase some of my weights. By the time I got home and had supper, it was almost 9. Yesterday was one of those days. I didn't really feel like working, which made for a long work day. :-P I got home around 6, had fish and some tasty asparagus and basil soup before Anthony and I headed over to John and Sabine's for TMNT. I didn't have a ton to do just the way things worked out. I had gone ahead and thanks to some horrible rolling, hijinks ensued for the others. It certainly was exciting though. At one point we were all on the edge of our seats watching as Anthony rolled literally for his last point of HP. Now, if only we can learn to get through the easy stuff without making it into a big production! :-P Labels: Daily Life, Food, Friends, Gaming, Health

It's The End of The World As We Know ItThree nice weekends in a row. There must be an apocolypse coming! :-P Friday after work I had my rubber arm twisted and ended up just joining Doug, Colleen, Mike D and Anthony at Cougars. I didn't have anything to drink, but I enjoyed the company. Afterwards, we headed out to Scott and Alison's for a bonfire with John and Sabine. We ended up leaving about 11 since we had a early morning planned. Saturday we were up at 8 pm. I went for a run, and then hit the gym for a quick upper body work out before we picked up Dre and Sabine for our tubing adventure. By the time we stopped at Walmart, went back for the forgotten tubes and went to the liquor store for beer, it was almost 12. By the time we got our tubes inflated and hit the river, it was about 1-ish. We floated down river for about an hour to the swimming hole, swam a bit and then walked back to the cars for a fabulous picnic lunch provided by Scott and Alison (you two roxxor! ^_^). Full and happy, we opted to do a second run. After another stop for some swimming at the swimming hole, we headed back to the cars. It was 6 by the time we got home, which was just enough time to shower and change to head out for our Girls Night. Yesterday was a mostly lazy day. I woke up late (with a bit of a headache - it turns out a whole bottle of wine and no supper equals hangover :-P) and headed out to our Second Stage meeting. That was about 2 hours, and then Dre and I checked out United Bookstore so she could drop off book (and we could look at dice). I wasn't home very long when Anthony got home, and we spent some time doing some cleaning. Anthony made pasta for supper and John and Sabine came over around 6 or so to do some board gaming. We played Pictionary (Anthony and I won) and Simpson's Clue (John won). We chatted for a bit after the games before they went home. Anthony and I spent the remainder of the evening curled up reading. Okay! After work, I rushed home to get ready for a run with Dre. I ended up making us late because I could not find anything! My morning started like that and it carried through the day. I couldn't find my shorts, then I couldn't find my super sturdy sports bra, then I couldn't find my hat, then - You get the picture. Zedd and Kaylee were probably under the impression I'd finally lost it as I stomped around the apartment cursing like a sailor. :-P We ran for 25 minutes along Harbour Passage. Again, the last two sets of running were brutal, but I got through the first 20 in pretty good shape. Dre said we had even picked up the pace a little. So I've got three runs down with only a nasty blister on my baby toe in the way of negative side effects. There's not much I can do about the blister because it hurts every time I take a step. I'll just suffer through it... I'll probably have to fork out $20 for fancy Running Room socks. I'm totally digging it so far though. ^_^ After our run, we each rushed home to our apartments. I did a good stretch, had an uber quick shower while heating supper up in the microwave and then, following the trend of the day, couldn't find my dice. I met Dre again and we walked down to John and Sabine's for our first TMNT adventure. ^_^ My character isn't overly bright, and she's very much like a valley girl, but so far fun to play. Then it was home to catch up on some facebook before bed. Labels: Daily Life, Friends, Gaming, Health

All Work And Lots of Play Make Lisa a Tired Girl!It was a busy, busy weekend. I know, what a shocker. :-P After work on Friday, Anthony, Doug and Colleen picked me up at work and we raced off to Fredericton to catch the 6:40 viewing of "Hot Fuzz." It was super funny and totally worth the drive. Those guys are hilarious! After the movie, we popped into Chapters for Starbucks and I picked up a book of 4 Ibsen plays for $9.95. Then it was back to Saint John. Saturday we were up early-ish. I needed to weigh in and Anthony wanted to rejoin, so we headed over east. Anthony dropped me off at 11:30 for our music rehearsal, which luckily wasn't super long. When we finished, I went down to Suzy Shier to find something to wear for our girls night. I did well. I tried on about half the store, but I found a shirt, a jean skirt and a super girly floofy dress that was totally unnecessary but I love it. ^_^ I went to the bank to deposit a cheque, and on the way up to the market, ran into Doug and Colleen. I ended up joining them for a break at Java Moose, and then we headed to the market together. I got some Korean food to take home for supper and Sense of Tokyo had a booth set up, so I got some uber-tasty dragon rolls for lunch. That's some good sushi! :-d That gave me just enough time to go home, eat, change and head back to the rehearsal space for dance rehearsal. It was a good rehearsal. We worked hard for three full hours, learning new stuff, tweaking other things. It was great! I got home at about 6:30, heated up supper and relaxed for an hour. Then it was time to start getting ready to head over to Kristi's for our girls night. It was a blast! It was the Kit Kat girls, Jenn, Dre, Kizzy, Heather and Sabine. Dre and Kizzy helped with makeup, and we chatted, etc. until 12:30 when we finally realized the time and made our way to Studio 54. As part of their 5 year annivesary celebrations, the bar was opened until 3. By the time I got home, got changed and relaxed, it was 4 am. When my phone rang about 11 am, my first thought was "Gah, its morning." That thought was immediately followed by "Mmmm... pancakes." It was then I registered that my phone was ringing. :-P I answered the phone and it was Anthony telling me how he'd lost his keys. In Moncton. I then called Sabine, asked how she felt about pancakes and we met 30 minutes later. Cora's was closed, so we ended up in Reggie's, where Irwin joined us. After breakfast, I made a pitstop at the Bargain Shop and the Smart Kart before rehearsal. We got started the run a bit late, which bumped everything late. We finished rehearsal at almost 6 pm. I joined Dre and Kizzy for a super quick bite at Churchills before Dre and I headed over to Jay and Lisa's for part 2 of the Serenity 'pilot.' I was tired, but it was good to go and think about something other than Cabaret. Plus, Mare made Fruity Oaty Bars. :-d Mmmm..... And now, its Monday. I've booked tomorrow off for vacation. I totally need a break that involved sleeping in. Holly gave me a gift certificate for a manicure at Ambiance; I may try to book that for tomorrow afternoon. ^_^ Labels: Books, Daily Life, Food, Gaming, Movies, Theatre

Tuckered OutI haven't been sleeping well the last couple of nights. It's been bee tough getting up in the morning, let me tell you! Let's see, Sunday we had rehearsal at noon. We finished a little early, so I hit the gym for a much needed upper body workout. I was feeling all weak and kittenish. :-P Anthony met me afterwards for a coffee at Tim's (he needed a break from work), and then I headed home for supper. We opted last minute to go to see "Pathfinder." It was entertaining. I'll give it that much. It's amusing when you see a film where the writer and director obviously knew nothing about the subject matter. I think they may have heard of vikings, but never researched them, and I think they believe that the vikings came from Asia because it was so obviously filmed in BC with huge mountain ranges and redwood forests. :-P I scoff, but it was enjoyable. Tobaggan chase anyone? ~_^ Last night we didn't have rehearsal, which was a lovely treat. I got groceries after work. While I ate, I watched an episode of Buffy that I'd started the night before, and then gamed for about an hour and a half. I've got to do some leveling before I can move on to the next battle. I'm only a couple levels above the next boss, and considering my last big fight with a bunch of jellies nearly wiped me out... ^_^ I stopped gaming around 10, walked through the dance routines, and then hit the hay. Again, with the not sleeping well, I figured it was best to get in as much extra sleep as possible. I did sleep a little better, but I woke up with a headache and hit snooze a bunch of times. Shiny. Let's be bad guys.We had our first 'episode' of Serenity last night. We've got the ship and captain, the medic, a mechanic and a gunslinger (that's me! ^_^). I wasn't sure what to expect-it's my first RPG-and it took me most of the evening to find my groove. I think I'll do better the next time, now that I know a bit more about what's what. ^_^ It was a pretty action packed part one though. We had a sword fight, a minor surgery, a betrayal, and a gun fight. Good times! ^_^ Thanks Jay and Lisa for hosting us! Labels: Gaming
